Top Ten Tuesday Eighty Two – Top Ten Most Anticipated Releases for the Second Half of 2020

TTT 35 (1)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature/ meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week we are talking about some of the books we are most anticipating being released in the second half of 2020, and so as always with these posts, I am now even more excited for all of these books to finally come out.  There a few sequels that I am so desperate to read, some books by authors I have already read, and some books that are completely new to me but sound exactly like my type of read.

So here are ten of my most anticipated releases for the second half of 2020!

Copy of Copy of Six Of Crows by Leigh Bardugo (15)

Released 14th July

I always love the idea of people being able to contact the dead, and this one makes that even more interesting as our main character has inherited her father’s ability to call ghosts from the grave with his fiddle, and needs to use this gift to solve a murder her brother has been accused of.  This one sounds like a murder mystery but with magic and ghosts, and honestly I don’t think I could ask for anything more.

Released 28th July

This contemporary combines so many of my loves, as it takes place over one night with an enemies to lovers romance as they are forced to work together.  I can’t wait to watch these two work together and slowly grow to like each other, and so this is definitely one that I am planning to pick up as soon as it is out.

Released 18th August

It was the title of this one that first intrigued me, then the synopsis just confirmed that this sounded like the feminist novel I am waiting for, and even without the gorgeous cover.  I love the idea of these girls all coming together to show those who dismissed them how wrong they were, and in the words of the blurb, to smash the patriarchy in the process.

Where Dreams Descend

Released 25th August

This book was actually also on my TTT for my most anticipated releases for the first half of 2020, but unfortunately the publication date for this one got pushed back to August.  However, that does mean that I get to build my excitement for it all over again by talking about it, as this one just sounds like the perfect story which promises magicians, a daring game and a hidden danger behind the scenes.

Released 1st September

If I could have one book from this list in my hands right now, I would choose this one without a second thought.  I adore this series with all my heart, and after the emotional mess that King of Fools left me in, I am desperate to return to Levi, Enne and the City of Sin and to give my soul to this story one last time.

Released 15th September

I remember hearing about this book a few weeks ago and adoring the sound of it so much that I was ready to just order right then and there, so was pretty disappointed when I found that that it was yet to be released.  The combination of secret societies, magic and the legend of Merlin makes this book sound like a gorgeous ride that I can not wait to go on.

Copy of Copy of Six Of Crows by Leigh Bardugo (10)

Released 6th October

Not only does this one have an amazing concept, as we follow Addie LaRue, a young woman makes a Faustian bargain to live forever and is cursed to be forgotten by everyone she meets, but it is also written by V. E. Schwab.  I always love anything she comes out with, and so this is definitely one I am going to pick up as soon as I possibly can.

Released 17th November

There was one line that made me certain that I was gonna read this book – an imaginative Romeo and Juliet retelling set in 1920s Shanghai, with rival gangs and a monster in the depths of the Huangpu River – and after that I was sold.  I honestly having nothing else to say about this one because the synopsis itself just makes this sound like this is going to become a new favourite of mine once its finally released.

Copy of Copy of Six Of Crows by Leigh Bardugo (8)

Released 1st December

Like so many people, I can not wait for the final book in the An Ember in the Ashes series to be released and to finally discover how this series could possibly conclude.  I particularly loved the previous installment, A Reaper at the Gates, and I can only imagine what else Sabaa Tahir could possibly have in store for these characters.

Copy of Copy of Six Of Crows by Leigh Bardugo (7)

Released 1st December

After enjoying two of Karen M. McManus’ previous books, its no surprise that I am super excited to see what her new novel has in store, particularly as I love the sound of creepy things happening on this island resort.  Hopefully this one is as twisty and suspenseful as her previous stories!

What books are you most anticipating being released in the second half of 2020?  Are you excited for any of my choices?  If you could get one 2020 release early, which would it be?
