Top Ten Tuesday Eighty – Top Ten Books on my Summer 2020 TBR

TTT 35

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature/ meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week we are talking about all the books we hope to read this summer, and so all of the books on our summer TBR.  For me, as for alot of people, this time of year tends to see me read more contemporaries, and so its not surprising that alot of the books on here are contemporary, romance books.  However, there are a few sequels and fantasies on here because that seems to be what I am leaning towards at the moment, and I also just wanted to make sure that there was still some variety to this TBR

So here are all of the books on my Summer TBR!

The Gravity of Us

This is one of my most anticipated releases of the year, and so of course I would love to read it at some point soon, hence why its on this TBR.  I love the idea of this cute contemporary having the backdrop of this space mission and NASA, and I’m really hoping that this one gives me everything I want in this story.

Children of Virtue & Vengeance

I loved Children of Blood and Bone when I read it last year, and so I am super excited to dive back into this gorgeous world and to to see what this else this story holds.  I am also committing to reading more books by black authors, and so one of the easiest ways for me to start that is to read those books I already own, and so thats another reason why I particularly want to read this one this summer.

The main reason this one is on my Summer TBR is because the TV adaptation just came out on Amazon Prime, and I am desperate to watch it with my family, but I also want to read the book first.  I don’t know much about this one other than that it is about two very different families and secrets, but based on how much other people seem to love to this one I am excited to see what all the hype is about.

After finally finishing Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy, I am so excited to continue diving back into this world and catching up with all the books I have fallen behind on.  I know alot of people really loved both this book and The Dark Artifices series as a whole, and so I’m super interested to see how I feel about this one in comparison to Cassandra Clare’s other books.

I read the first book in this duology, Warcross, two years ago now, and so it is well past time for me to dive into its sequel before I forget everything about this story.  I remember really enjoying the characters and the plot in general, and given the plot twist at the end of the first book I am still excited to see what is going to happen next.

The Deck of Omens

The Devouring Grey was one of my favourite reads of last year, and so its no surprise that I am desperate to pick up this second, and final book in this series.  I can not wait to return to this world and to these characters, and I’m really hoping that this one follows in The Devouring Grey’s footsteps and becomes one of my favourites of 2020.

Frankly In Love

Summer is definitely the time for reading contemporaries, and so in that spirit I hope to read this debut that sounds exactly like the cute little read I love at this time of year.  This one also involves the fake-dating trope which like so many other people I adore reading about, and so overall this one just sounds like the perfect book for me to read this summer.

The Belles

This fantasy sounds very different to the ones I usually gravitate towards, but nonetheless I am really looking forward to seeing what I think of this one.  The world seems super interesting to me, as well as the magic system, and so I am hoping to fall in love with this book when I finally get around to reading it.

Despite how excited I was about this one prior to its release, it is still sitting on my shelf 18 months later, and so I would really love to change that this summer.  I have really enjoyed both of these authors prior books, and so I am super interested in seeing what happens when they write and create a story together.

It has been way too long since I read a Becky Albertalli book, and so in my aim to combat that this is the second of her books on this list that I want to read this summer.  Not only do I want to return to her writing and to explore more of her work, but this book also sounds like a great little read to satisfy my desire for cute romance and gorgeous contemporary stories.

What books are on your Summer TBR?  Have you read any of these – what did you think?

  1. I NEED to finish reading The Dark Artifices too. I’ve actually read Lady Midnight and I was a bit disappointed by it. That being said, I’ve heard so many people raving about Lord of Shadows, so I will definitely pick it up sometime soon. On another note, I’ve tried reading What if it’s us twice and I just couldn’t get into it. But that might just be because I was in a reading slump. Also, I really need to read Children of Blood and Bone this summer!
