Top Ten Tuesday Seventy Seven – Top Ten Last Books I Abandoned

TTT 35 (3)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature/ meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week we are talking about the most recent books we abandoned, whether that be by DNFing them or just deciding that we’ve lost interest in them.  As I recently did an unhaul, I haven’t put too many books on this list to avoid this just being a repeat of that.  That said, I have been alot more decisive in which books I abandon and which ones I give a go, which has been great in allowing me to give more time to books that I am going to love.

So here are some of the most recent books I’ve abandoned!

This is one of those books that for whatever reason I just couldn’t get into after a good few hours of the audiobook, and so it makes sense to DNF it in favour of other books I may actually enjoy.  I also wasn’t a fan of The Sky is Everywhere, and so it seems like I might just not be a fan of Jandy Nelson’s writing style.

Kingsbane

After how much I enjoyed Furyborn, its safe to say that I was pretty disappointed at having to abandon this one, but I just knew that I wasn’t liking it enough to continue with another 10 hours of the audiobook.  I just found the story too boring and confusing, so giving up on it felt like the best thing to do.

This is the one book on this list that I haven’t read a single page of, and so because of that I am a little more hesitant about completely abandoning it, hence why I have yet to unhaul it off my shelf.  However, I’m afraid I may have moved on from Sarah J. Maas books and so for now at least I am abandoning this one.

I talked about how I read the first chapter of this one in my recent unhaul post, and I’m afraid that was enough to make me realise this isn’t a book for me.  I just didn’t get along with the writing style and after reading a few mixed reviews it just seemed best to abandon this one.

Rebel of the Sands

I can’t tell you how many times I have started this book only to put it back down again only a chapter or two later, and so it is definitely time to admit defeat and just accept that unfortunately I am not gonna finish this book.  Over time I have also lost interest in picking this one up over other fantasies, so unhauling it is the right thing to do.

This is the one book on this list that I have never physically owned, which makes it a lot easier for me to abandon it as I don’t have to get rid of a book or feel like I’ve wasted money.  That said, I definitely gave this book a good shot before giving up on it as I got around 60% of the way through the audiobook before deciding that it just wasn’t for me.

What were some of the books you most recently abandoned?  Do you regularly DNF books, or do you tend to like to finish every book you read?
