Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature/ meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week’s topic was a very fun one, as we share some signs that you’re a booklover. I really enjoyed thinking up little things and habits that most booklovers have in common, and loved how this week was a little different to the normal TTT’s. It also made a fun little distraction from everything that’s going on right now!
So here are seven signs that you’re a booklover!
No matter where I go, I will always have a book on me, whether it be a physical book or an audiobook downloaded on my phone. Us booklovers always have to be prepared for any spare time in which we can return to our fictional worlds and make that little bit more progress on our current read, and so its no surprise that we normally always have a book on us.
I’m sure its not just me that gets the most excited about book-shaped presents or when a book voucher falls out of a birthday card. So if you want to know the way to a booklovers heart, then a quick check of their Goodreads want-to-read or Amazon wishlist will usually lead you in the right direction.
I swear I seem to have way more bookmarks than I will ever know what to do with, and certainly more than I will ever need to use as actually bookmarks. They come in subscription boxes, with book orders and are given out at almost any bookish event, and yet I still can’t get rid of a single one because they are all so pretty!
The moment a book-lover walks into a bookshop, their bank balance is automatically going down. Its just impossible to not pick up that new release you’ve been anticipating or that sequel you need to read immediately when it is right there in front of you.
We booklovers tend to own a lot of books, and so its no surprise that our bookshelves are quite a key feature in our rooms. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve had someone new into my room only for the first thing they say to be ‘wow you have a lot of books!’.
Reading before bed is a great habit that a lot of readers get into, but it can often stop you from sleeping more than it helps you to when you are in the middle of a really good book. How are you meant to put that book down when you just need to know what happens and can’t wait till tomorrow to find out?
(or at least try to!)
I am always that person that tries to quickly read the book before the adaptation comes out, or forces themselves to wait to watch the movie until I can read the book first, as I am sure a lot of other booklovers do. Although I am not always the best at sticking to this, I am usually the one to stick by the claim that the book is better than the movie the majority of the time, hence why I want to read it first.
What are some more signs of a book-lover? Can you relate to/ agree with some of mine?
