April Wrap Up

Another month has ended and so its time for another wrap up!  April was unfortunately another pretty bad reading month for me, as I only read one physical book and listened to one audiobook during it.  That said, I don’t feel too bad about this, as not only was I super busy during the middle of the month, but I also actually DNFed a few books that I wasn’t enjoying, and so even though I only fully read two books I have still been reading throughout the month.  I feel like time just got away from me this month and before I knew it we were approaching the end of April despite it seeming like it had only just started!

So here are all of the books that I read in April!

I finally picked up this fantasy last month after my post discussing all the big books I want to read this year inspired me to, and honestly I am really glad I finally got around to it.  This book was action-packed and full of twists that kept me wanting to read more to discover how our characters would overcome the next hurdle in their way.  I loved all of the characters, particularly Inan and Zelie, who are both already such complex characters who I can not wait to see more from in the next book.  The world-building in this book was so excellently done and allowed me to really immerse myself in this detailed world that I can not wait to return to in the sequel.

When Dimple Met Rishi header.png

This was my audiobook pick for the month, and one that I had actually already started at some point last year, but put down as I just couldn’t get into it whilst physically reading it.  However, I thankfully ended up really enjoying this cute little contemporary in the end, with Dimple and Rishi’s romance one of the cutest that I have read in a very long time.  Although I did have a little bit of a problem with how quickly their relationship progressed, I did still overall love their story as they slowly fell in love whilst working on their app together, despite their initial encounter.  I also loved the way that Rishi and Dimple’s culture was integrated into the story, as we see both of them struggle between pleasing their parents and doing what they love.

TV Shows & Movies Header

Despite my reading not be great this month, one thing that made up for that was all of the amazing TV and movies that I watched during April.  Firstly, I obviously went to watch the film everyone is talking about, Avengers: Endgame, and I have so many thoughts!  I feel like this film was such a good and satisfying end to this phase of the MCU, with action, comedy and drama all adding together to give us this spectacular movie.

Another spectacular thing that returned this month was Game of Thrones, with the insanely highly anticipated season eight finally beginning last month.  Without spoiling anything, I am really enjoying this final season so far, particularly the last episode that somehow had me on the edge of my seat for the entire 90 minutes.  I also finished The Umbrella Academy in April after bingeing the eight episodes I had left, and am so glad that we are getting another series of this eccentric show.
