Seeing as we are now almost a third of the way into February, it is now way past time for me to talk about some of my most anticipated releases for the first half of 2019!  2018 saw so many amazing books be released, and yet already 2019 is seeming to want to contend with that, as there are already so many new releases that I just can not wait to get my hands on.

So here are nine of my most anticipated releases for the first half of 2019!

Six Of Crows by Leigh Bardugo (7)

Published 12th February

I love the sound of this book which focuses on the Black Coats, a group of women who band together to exact vengeance on men who hurt women and girls,  as it sounds exactly like the feminist contemporary of my dreams.  I can’t wait to explore this story and its badass heroines, especially as it is set in a contemporary setting rather than a fantastical or historical one.

Published 26th February

This was was already on my radar even before I read The Serpent King last month, so I can’t tell you how excited I am for this one now that I have fallen in love with another of Jeff Zentner’s books.  I adore the sound of this contemporary following two best friends who co-host a TV show as they navigate their senior year, and I’m sure that I will thoroughly enjoy it if its even half as good as his first novel.

Published 5th March

This contemporary following perfectionist Ariel as he enlists the help of Amir as a tutor in an attempt to restore his grade before college sounds exactly like the type of book I need!  Not only does this sound like such a gorgeous little story shining light on the struggles and pressures of education, but I also know that I myself will relate alot to this unique book that I cannot wait to read.

I saw this book described as The Serpent King meets Stranger Things and I was sold!  Everything about this book sounds so interesting to me and exactly like my sort of read, from the investigation of local ghost stories to the close group of friends called The Ordinary, so I can not wait to dive into this spectacular sounding story.

Six Of Crows by Leigh Bardugo (10)

Published 19th March

I have seen this one everywhere recently, with so many people anticipating its release, and for good reason!  This sounds like such a powerful story following Layla as her and her parents are forced into internment camp for Muslim American citizens in a near-future United States, and so I am super excited to see what this dystopian story holds.

Six Of Crows by Leigh Bardugo (11)

Published 2nd April

Fantasies that follow different characters whose lives all someone intertwine are my types of books, and so this one instantly drew me in when it described three separate characters who must come together to assassinate the king and stop the war.  I am also so in love with the dark and Gothic cover that makes me even more desperate to get my hands on this book!

Six Of Crows by Leigh Bardugo (12)

Published 7th May

Not only is this written by Christine, whose booktube channel I am in love with and have been watching for so long now, but I also adore the sound of this contemporary story following Shane as she signs up for a semester abroad in London.  I always enjoy reading contemporaries set in college or university rather than high school, and so I am so excited to see what this one has in store.

Six Of Crows by Leigh Bardugo (13)

Published 14th May

A contemporary with a non-binary protagonist struggling with an anxiety disorder?  Yes please!  I can not wait to dive into this beautiful own voices story following Ben De Backer as they come out to their parents and face the backlash from their rejection, as I know it will be such an important read that I can’t wait to dive into.

All I saw were the words Gilmore Girls meets To All The Boys I Loved Before and I was sold!  This sounds like the perfect contemporary for the summer months, with romance, family and the ocean, and so I am definitely adding this one to my TBR so that I can make sure to read it as soon as it is released!

What books can not wait to be released in the first half of 2019?  Are you excited for any of these as well?

  1. I’m also so anticipating Rosa Santos! It sounds so cute, and that cover is to die for! I’m also really interested to read Internment, it sounds like a really interesting read.
