Top Ten Tuesday Forty Three – Top Ten Backlist Books I Want To Read

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature/ meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week we are talking about backlist books that we are interested in reading, which is basically my entire TBR!  The majority of the books I read are backlist titles, as there are so many that I am interested in reading that I just tend to pick them up over newer releases.  Because of this, I decided to split this weeks list into five books I don’t currently own on my physical TBR, and five that I do, just to try and make it a little more interesting!

So here are ten backlist books that I want to read!

Six Of Crows by Leigh Bardugo (6).png

Not surprisingly, I became interested in this book the moment I saw people comparing to The Raven Cycle, and so it has been on my TBR ever since.  I love the sound of this novel, and so I can not wait to dive into it and see if it lives up to my expectations.

The synopsis of this book drew me in straight away, and so all of the amazing things people have said about this book just confirmed for me that this book is one I am desperate to read.  It is also a really short story, so I can’t wait to read it for myself at some point in the near future.

I don’t know why I have yet to pick this book up, as I have been desperate to read it ever since it was first released back in 2016.  I love the sound of this Sherlock Holmes re-telling, as I am sure that it will be a great mystery that will keep me hooked right till the very end.

I don’t know exactly was it is about this fantasy story surrounding Kestrel, a general’s daughter who gets more than she bargained for when she buys young slave Arin, who may be hiding secrets of his own.  All I do know is that I am desperate to read this book and discover what this story has in store, especially as I have seen such good reviews for it.

This was one of my most anticipated releases for 2017, and yet I still have not read this mystery surrounding Lizzie Lovett as misfit Hawthorn takes over her life after her disappearance in an attempt to prove her theory of what happened to her.  This book sounds so unique, and so hopefully it won’t be on my TBR for too much longer!

Honestly, this book sounds like it was written for me!  Everything from supernatural goings on to the 1920’s setting makes me desperate to pick up this story that I am almost certain I am going to love, so I am hoping that I can do just that very soon.

Six Of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

This contemporary following twins Jude and Noah through two different time periods is one that I can not wait to dive into, as not only does it sound like an emotional read that will hit me hard, but I have also heard such good things from so many different people.

This is one of the oldest books on this list, but one that I have heard such good reviews about that I can’t wait to dive into this fantasy story.  I love the idea of our main character being a food taster as well as the hint at magical elements that I can’t wait to explore when I finally get round to picking this book up.

This strange story is one I’ve wanted to read ever since I first heard about it a few years ago, and yet I have only recently actually got my hands on a copy of the first book.  I can not wait to see what this mysterious book has in store and to read through all the twists and turns this story holds.

It seems like absolutely everyone read this series when they were younger, but it was one that I never picked up back then for whatever reason, so I would love to finally dive into this series and see what it is all about.  I am also super excited to read some more dystopian, as it is a genre that I have hardly reached for but am definitely interested in getting back into soon.

What backlist books do you want to read?  Do you tend to read more backlist books, or recent releases?  Have you read any of these – what did you think?

  1. WE ARE OKAY, I’LL GIVE YOU THE SUN, and THE DIVINERS are all must reads. They all are pretty much perfection, so you won’t regret reading them. I also want to read the Lizzie Lovett book. I had heard some not great things about it, so I think that’s why I put it off– but I do still want to try it!!

    1. Glad you enjoyed them all – I can’t wait to read them! I’ve also heard mixed things about Lizzie Lovett, but I’m hoping that I can still give it a chance myself as the synopsis just sounds so good!
