We are now slowly moving towards the last few months of the year, and whilst I have had a great reading year so far, there are still a few books I really want to get to before 2018 is out. Some are books that simply been on my TBR for far too long, whilst others are ones I know I will love, and so am desperate to get to before too long.
So here are five books I want to read before the end of 2018!
It has now been over 18 months since I read Prisoner of Azkaban, and so I am well, well past overdue picking this one up. I actually did start this one on audiobook a few months ago, but unfortunately as I borrowed it from my library, I had to return it before I finished even the first two chapters. And as this is such a popular series, I am currently something like 10th in the queue to borrow it again.
Therefore, rather than waiting forever to be able to listen to it again, I am going to have to bite the bullet and actually pick up this huge book and read it myself, as the jump in size of these books is what has been putting me off continuing for so long. So, I am really hoping to be able to read this one before the end of the year, as I am so desperate to continue this beloved series for myself.
This is the book on my shelves that I have owned for the longest amount of time – by a mile! In fact, I have already tried to read this book twice before, but unfortunately both times I could not get passed 150 pages or so. Which may have you questioning why this book is still on my TBR at all.
Despite often unhauling books I have read and disliked, I have a really hard time getting rid of books still on my TBR, even ones like this that I have DNFed, as I am so scared that I will be getting rid of a new favourite by doing so. I am also more inclined to keep hold of this book in particular because I have heard that this story does take a while to get into, and so I determined to give it one more chance to hopefully allow me to push through the first half of this story and maybe even finish it at last!
This is another that has been sitting on my shelf for years now, and so because of that my eagerness to read this one has unfortunately decreased over that time. I was so excited for this book when I first heard about it, and whilst I still love the concept of this one, time has certainly made me less anxious to pick this one up.
That said, I would still love to at least give this book a go, even if I do end up DNFing it after the first few chapters or so. As I mentioned with Code Name Verity, I am not someone who likes to unhaul books I have not read, and so I am determined to start this book before the end of the year, to see whether or not this is still my sort of book.
Other than Goblet of Fire, this is probably the book on this list that I am most irritated at myself for not having read yet. Not because I have owned it for a extraordinary amount of time, but because I know that I will love this book.
It is written by one of my favourite authors, sounds exactly like a book I will love, and is hugely popular and adored by so many people. Therefore, it is high time that I pick this spectacular-sounding novel up for myself, especially as I also own the next two books in this series, making this a must read for me before 2018 is out.
Finally, we are back to a book that I have owned for way too long, and so am deciding to unhaul if I don’t read it before the year is up. I can’t tell you how many times I have started the audiobook for this one, but one reason or another I never manage to get further than a few chapters before I end up putting it down, despite the fact that I am really enjoying what I have read so far.
Therefore, I am determined to finally make my way through those first few pages and actually read this book, whether that be in its physical form or through audiobook, as I have heard such good things about this story from so many different people.
