Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature/ meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This weeks topic is one that I have been so excited ever since I first saw that it was an upcoming topic. I adore quotes so much, with almost all of my books tabbed in some way or form so that I can always go back and relive some of my favourite quotes and moments. In fact, I had so many quotes on my first draft for this week, that for the first time in I don’t know how long, I actually had to cut out a fair few from this list just to get it down to 12! I also tried to include only one quote from a book, something which was much harder than I expected it to be, as some of my favourite books include so many gorgeous quotes that it was so hard to not just include them all!
So here are twelve of my favourite book quotes!
Trust me, though, the words were on their way, and when they arrived, Liesel would hold them in her hands like the clouds, and she would wring them out like rain
We are all migrants through time
‘A life with all its business finished is a life too cautiously lived.’
‘One must always be careful of books… and what is inside them, for words have the power to change us.’
‘People are complicated puzzles, always trying to piece together a complete picture, but sometimes we get it wrong and sometimes we’re left unfinished. Sometimes that’s for the best. Some pieces can’t be forced into a puzzle, or at least they shouldn’t be, because they won’t make sense.’
‘We accept the love we think we deserve.’
‘We are born to dream and make the things we dream about.’
‘I can no more choose my thoughts than choose my name.’
‘He talked about the ocean between people. And how the whole point of everything is to find a shore worth swimming to.’
‘They are moments that you’ll remember for the rest of your life and there are moments that you think you’ll remember for the rest of our life and its not often they turn out to be the same moment.’
‘The best books, they don’t talk about things you never thought about before. They talk about things you’d always thought about, but that you didn’t think anyone else had thought about. You read them, and suddenly you’re a little bit less alone in the world. You’re part of this cosmic community of people who’ve thought about this thing, whatever it happens to be.’
‘We had yet to learn that the Devil created youth so that we could make our mistakes, and that God established maturity and old age so that we could pay for them…’
