Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature/ meme hosted by The Broke and Bookish.
I can’t tell you how excited I am about this weeks topic. Honestly, who doesn’t love the opportunity the talk about some of their favourite books?! This year was the best reading year I have had in a while, both in terms of how many books I read, and because of how much I loved reading so many of them. 2017 gave me so many new favourites, so here are some of the books that I loved most this year!
Out of all of the books on this list, this is the that I went into with the highest expectations, as literally everyone seems to adore this book, a number that I swiftly joined when I finally read this book for myself in September. Everything about this book was so amazing, from the heist plot itself to the characters, everyone of whom I adore so much, and I can’t wait to continue following them in Crooked Kingdom.
This is another that I had heard pretty good things about before diving into it myself, and yet still this book managed to exceed my expectations as it told a story that I would remember for a very long time. I adored the format of this book, as we got read about the relationship between Griffin and Theo whilst simultaneously watching Griffin grief over his death, as well as just the sheer beauty of this moving and heartbreaking story.
The first Maggie Stiefvater book on this list, this was likely the biggest surprise of the year for me. I went into not expecting much at all, and finished it with a new favourite on my hands. As always, Maggie Stiefvater manages to create such a gorgeous atmosphere within this book, with a story that slowly sucked me in until I was fully invested in it, all created through her beautiful writing that I will just get enough of.
Another one here that completely exceeded all of my expectations with its fast paced plot and characters who I couldn’t help but adore. I fell into this one so easily, and from that point onwards was just drawn straight into this world. This was just such a unique story with so many amazing main characters and side characters that just all added up to create this spectacular fantasy.
After reading Everything, Everything at the very beginning of the year, I was excited about reading this one, but once again definitely did not anticipate how much I would end up loving it. From the offset I adored how this one was written, the diversity within it, and the story itself, that for a book that takes place over a single day, was so captivating and beautiful in the journey it took you on.
Out of all four books in the Raven Cycle, this second book has to be my favourite. I absolutely where the plot went in this one, as it added in even more magical elements, and focused on Ronan, who after this book firmly became one of favourite characters. I consider all of the books in this series some of all time favourites, but this one in particular was the book that really made me fall in love with these characters and this story that now means so much to me.
This is another book that I knew was so many people’s favourites before going into it, and firmly became one of mine once I had read it. What I loved most about this book was how well it represented anxiety and mental health, and so I absolutely adored the character of Cath, as well as almost all of the others that we met within this gorgeous story.
This book was my first read of 2017, and was definitely the one that really made me realise just how good these books are. I grew up with the movies, and so was already pretty familiar with the series, yet still this book allowed me to fall in love with this series in a way that I had never done before, and definitely begun to prove to me why everyone adores these books so much.
Despite adoring the second installment in this series, Crown of Midnight, which I read back in March, it is actually this third book that has become both my favourite of this series so far, and one of my favourites of 217. As I have said many times before, I just love how much this one developed the world and introduced us to amazing characters who have already become some of new favourites. I just adored watching this world and this plot expand and become so much more complex and spectacular than it already was, and can’t wait to see it all continue in Queen of Shadows.
Finally, this is a very late addition to this list, but one that I could not imagine not adding to it. I have literally just finished this book, and already know that it has become not only one of my favourite books of this year, but also one of my favourite books of all time. This is one of those books that I believe everyone should read, because of how well it depicts mental illness, with this being possibly the best representation I have ever read. I adored this book so much, and am likely to be recommending it to absolutely everyone I know for a very long time.

I read ‘fangirl’ and I thought it was boring so I don’t think that book is for me. perhaps if I was still in college, I might have liked it.
I read the harry potter series a few years back and in just a few days and I loved it though I did saw the movies first. ‘the prisoner of azkaban’ is my favorite book of the series.
I tried reading Sarah J. Maas books but I couldn’t even finished one book, I guess her books are not for me.

Thanks! I was worried about going into Six of Crows for exactly the same reason, but ended up enjoying even more than I expected, so hope you enjoy it as well if you do read it. I’m actually hoping to go to college or university next year, and so maybe that was one of the reasons I enjoyed it as much as I did. Glad you really enjoyed Harry Potter as well 🙂

I don’t even know where to start because there are so many great books on this list??? A big YES to Six Of Crows, Heir Of Fire and The Raven Cycle Quartet! Those are all books I really, really love and don’t know what I would do without!
Turtles All The Way Down is a book I haven’t read yet, but plan on for early 2018 as I was a big fan of both TFIOS and Looking For Alaska! I just need to know if I still enjoy John’s writing as much as I did back then!

Really glad you loved Six of Crows, Heir of Fire and The Raven Cycle as well – they are definitely all amazing reads! I was also really scared about whether I would still enjoy a John Green book now, but I honestly ended up loving his writing as much as I have in the past, so much so that Turtles All The Way Down has probably become my favourite book of his.
I really hope you enjoy it if you do read it 🙂
